Prop 29 logoVote Yes on Prop 29!

Do you want to help save lives? Do you support innovative cancer research and tobacco prevention in California?  If so, then ANR encourages you to vote YES on Prop 29.

Proposition 29, the California Cancer Research Act, will be on the June 5th ballot. This initiative will raise the tax on tobacco products by $1. It will provide approximately $441 million per year towards research to find cures for cancers and other tobacco-attributed diseases, as well as about $147 million per year toward California’s innovative tobacco prevention and cessation programs that help keep our kids from starting to smoke and support everyone’s right to breathe smokefree air.The tobacco industry is spending millions to fight Prop 29. Why? Because a higher tobacco tax encourages people to quit smoking and prevents kids from starting to smoke, so it stands to lose a lot of money if California voters approve the initiative on June 5th.

Don’t believe the tobacco industry’s campaign of lies and deception! You’ve probably already seen and heard the deceptive tv and radio ads in opposition to the initiative. The Tobacco Industry—convicted under federal racketeering laws of decades of conspiracy to deceive the public—is up to its same old tricks.  We cannot let the industry defeat Prop 29. There are too many lives at stake!
